The WEDGE!!!

Our final day in the states was spent in Newport beach city. A small hurricane swell has been sending small fun size waves to the coast and the Wedge was turning these waves into 8ft monsters breaking as wide as they where high. The waves where great as long as you where ready to be slammed into dry sand as the waves broke unto the beach. It was like a gladiator pit out there a heavy price to be paid. One board was snapped in half and another guy had to be pulled out of the water after landing on his feet and snapped his leg resulting in an open fracture! I managed to catch a few myself and even found myself inside a deep barrel.

This guy is about to eat it!

Beach Life

The weather is cooking everywhere but the beach lately. Days have been spent checking out the great local beachs, Salt Creek, T Street and Laguna. We plan to hit San Diego tomorrow to see what all the fuss is about.

I could do this all day...my form of meditation.

The Orange County

We are now in San Clemente, which is one of the O.C's quieter and more beautiful destinations. It has a warm a freindly feel with great beaches and stunning Pacific sunsets. A great place to wind down the epic trip.

Spent the morning buying new toys at ebodyboarding.com which is run by world famous bodyboarding legend Jay Reale. I got some great deals and beautiful new boards and wet suits.

Vegas PT 1

Love it or hate it Vegas has to be seen! We drove 6hrs through the desert to get here and so far it has been well worth it. Last night we walked the strip in search of elusive Elton John tickets. We failed to get the tickets instead we got caught up in a huge lightning storm with torrential rain, the streets where flooded to knee depth in some parts. Today we awoke to killer heat and unforgiving sunshine, its great out here in Nevada. Oh and I won $80 dollars on a fruity !

The pool was the only place to be today. Our hotel in the background 'Luxor' .

Los Angeles

We have spent the past three days in L.A checking out the many various sides to this crazy city. We booked ourslelves onto a tour on the first day which took us all over L.A checking out movie star homes,Venice Beach, South Central Gang lands, Skid Row, Film Studios etc. This was a fantastic way to get a feel for the city as it would be impossible to visit all these places on our own. Our final day was spent in Malibu on the Pacific coast where I managed to catch a few of the worlds most iconic right handers that where peeling so well. L.A has been ok as to really take advantage you will need a car, local knowledge and lots of patience. On a brighter note we are off to Vegas In the morning!

Maine

We picked up our hire car today and managed to blag a very reasonable upgrade to a new Jeep, which is the only way to travel :). I managed to learn the finer points of driving on the right and avoiding hummers, trucks etc. Anyway we have arrived in a beautiful town called Boothbay Harbor in the North of Maine. It was getting dark on arrival so we opted for fresh lobster at the towns best sea food restaurant. I picked my dinner and he was given a hot spa before being cracked and eaten. I felt guilty when the selected lobster was dropped in the hot tub..But the owner assured me that the lobsters have no nervous system and therefore feel no pain.

Time to get cracking

July 4th

Last night was the very patiotic July 4th Celebrations. We headed down to the local foreshore to witness what must have been the greatest, most spectacular pyrotechnic display I have ever experienced. This show must have cost the city a few dollars. We where seriously shocked by the spectacle, I stood with my mouth open for the finale. Aerosmith where also close at hand to warm up the crowd with classics such as Jeremia was a bullfrog and the
theme from Armaggedon.

Whales - In Boston

The past few days have been really good fun. I could go on about how nice the city is and post photos of the stunning architecture and parks..but that may be a little boring for you. We took a few hours out of walking today to hop on a whale spotting boat.
We where taken 30 miles offshore to their summer feeding grounds where the mums fatten up before moving to warmer climes to make babies. I was astounded by the quantity and quality of the whale action, these magestic creatures where jumping out of the water and swimming close to the boat. We where blown away and it was without the best dollars spent so far. Tonight is the 4th of July fireworks display which should be great craic. Tomorrow we collect our hire car and head up the coat toward Maine and the Canadian border.

Hello Boston

We have arrived in Boston! We have been pleasently suprised by the beauty and ease of checking out Boston. Great walks, views, history, shopping, food and Irish pubs make for a great visit, although the Red Sox are out of town : ( We will have to pull up a stool with the locals and watch them in a sports bar.

Got Milk?

Wrapping Up New York

Been a packed last couple of days. We managed to cram in many of the top sights and experiences. Off to Boston in the morning although it will be a reluctant goodbye to New York.
